Lauk’s Nest transfer event on Sunday

From Graceful Aeon:

Sunday, June 15, at 2:00 pm SLT you are invited to share art and music in a place rich with the remembered past and the future hope of Second Life.

Chupacabra-Lauks nest, Alviso (52, 188, 32)
We will start with “A World of Light and Color” — an exhibit at Chupacabra Gallery by real life artist, Timetraveler Georgia.  Working mostly in water soluable media,  Georgia uses light and color to express deep feelings about her connection to all other beings.  Never in fear, but in awe of the beauty — along with the terror and pain — she is a survivor with something to say.   Visit her web site at http://www.artofgeorgiahoopes.com.

Sonata cliff, Alviso (217, 94, 32)
After that, we will meet in the Poetry Garden at Lauk’s Nest to announce my new ownership of Lauk’s Nest as a cultural events center, historical site, SL home to my RL consulting business Future Rain, Inc.,  and future home to a non-profit group dedicated to the study, eduation and support of historic virtual spaces and the preservation of socially and culturally significant virtual material culture.   You are welcome to stay for the dance party on Lauk’s Nest dance floor following the announcement.

Lauks Nest, Alviso (163, 153, 63)
Lauk’s Nest  was built several years ago by Laukosargas Svarog (who left her nest to build Svarga, the living sim).

Built as Mayan temple ruins surrounded by a rain forest, it is textured with original and authentic Mayan textures created by Svarog.  Sold to Fallen Anansi, who kept it open and public, allowing many new residents from orientation to discover the beauty of Second Life through Lauk’s Nest.  Lukas Mensing, himself a talented artist and cultural leader, purchased it from Anansi to continue to protect it and use as a home for So Else, a group which supports intercultural communication through events and festivals.

Graceful Aeon / DeniseMarie Pinklady, as the new owner, will continue the tradition of holding the site in the public trust through the support of her acquaintances and friends in SL and RL.  Lauk’s Nest will take on a new role as we open shops, schedule conferences, lectures, exhibits and concerts, and create a future for Lauk’s Nest as the premier cultural and educational events center in Second Life.

I look forward to your attendance Sunday.  Even more, I look forward to your participation in this exciting and important endeavor.

  1. Morris, Morris, Morris,

    What have we here?

Just couldn’t stay out of things, could you?! I guess this means the walkabout is over? 🙂

Congrats – sounds like you all have some wonderful plans for Lauk’s Nest.

  2. On re-reading that, it’s Graceful Aeon assuming ownership of Lauk’s Nest, then, not you? I think I misread that the first time.

    See you soon.

    Princess

  3. Oh no, Princess. I’m not buying Lauk’s Nest. Graceful Aeon is.

    The walkabout continues unabated.

And, yes, Graceful seems to have some cool plans. I’m glad to help her promote her first event there. Lauk’s Nest is such a wonderful place – a Second Life landmark!

  4. well, Grace has just took ownership of Lauks nest…
I protected this island and preserved it for long. I used it to found a wonderful movement of intercultural communication. It gave me so many wonderful friends, and so many moments of happiness…
Its strange to log in and not be the owner of lauks nest. to no more have this great feeling of owning this place, part of the history of SL. I will still feel this spirit of peace and beauty on it, that you described so well Morris, but I will feel it differently. Just as you did. It’s Grace that will cherich this place, and protect it, and feel proud of having it…
I transmit to er not only Lauks nest, but also many many objects part of this place/spirit. And Grace is worth it. She is so dynamic, she has this energy I had long ago, remember when we met? and that i don’t have anymore…worn by my fights against Linden Lab strange and “kamikaze” decisions…
Grace has also a dream that you will like Morris, and all our friends will like it. The dream of creating a place INWORLD to preserve OUR history…a open book, with so much to learn and so much to respect. And because of Grace, some birthdays, like Yadnis, or yours will be sacred on SL…

  5. Congratulations on a magical run, Lukas. Your contribution to the Second Life grid’s cultural history cannot be overstated.

Take it from me, the transition into “non-ownership” can be rough. But you’ll find your way, and you’ll do great things going forward. It’s just different, and that’s not always bad.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what Grace comes up with for Lauk’s Nest. There’s a lot to making a build as incredible as Lauk’s come to life and be a hub of avatar activity…but she seems to have the right idea. Time will tell!
