Museum of Contemporary Art Walking Tours

I received a notecard in a group notice and stopped over to talk with Kathy Nikolaidis , Tour Guide at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Ms Nikolaidis provides a walking tours of the museum, which houses a very diverse collection of art. A tour of this stylish museum can be had by any Second Life residents simply by meeting Ms Nikolaidis at the start point of the tour. She greeted me when I arrived and we chatted briefly while I rezzed. She then asked if I was here for the tour. I replied telling her that I had been to the museum several times and had written a piece for Second Arts based on an interview and tour provided by Katerina Burner. I explained that I was here to ask a few question about the tour, to which she readily agreed to answer.

Nazz : When do the tours begin?

Kathy : I do tours Sunday, Monday and Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 pm PST/SLT. Some exceptions due to RL commitments, but that’s the scheduled time.

Nazz: How has attendance been and are you drawing new people regularly?

Kathy: Attendance has been good and I have at least one tour a day and people seem pleased by it, which pleases me … I like to know how I’m doing.

Nazz: It sounds like you enjoy doing so … what’s generally the most asked question?

Kathy: I do love meeting new people and showing off this place. The question most often asked is about the artists if they are real life artists or only second life.

Nazz: It’s a beautiful museum. How long do the tours last?

Kathy: Yes I agree … it’s great. The tours last about 30 minutes on average. I give everyone as much time as they like to look at the art while on the tour.

  1. Thanks for the heads up on the walking tour for this museum! I will have to visit it during one of the times listed so I can enjoy interacting with the Museum Curator.
