Imagine Create Texture Challenge

The Imagine Create Texture Challenge at Erato of Caerleon wrapped up on Sunday, September 20 and the first, second and third place winners were announced. The call had gone out from challenge organizer Sabrinaa Nighfire several weeks ago when she announced:

Erato of Caerleon is starting a new group of challenges for artists called Imagine Create. Anyone may participate in these challenges. The idea is to have fun and relax and enjoy participating in these. Our first Imagine Create challenge is all about Textures. Nine textures are provided by us. Participants create a work of art using these textures.

The rules were quite simple:

1. You may only use these textures…no other textures are allowed. You may use any or all of the textures…or even just one of the nine.

2. The maximum size of your piece is 10x10x10 m.

3. You may use a maximum of 20 prims.

4. Only low lag scripts may be used (as determined by our script police)

5. All work must be submitted to Sabrinaa Nightfire by midnight on Wednesday, September 9, 2009.

6. No megaprims may be used

There were eight judges for the challenge; Paula Dix, Marnie Reinard, Oak Core, Dragomir Minotaur, Sarai Sciarri, Artistide Despres, AuraKyo Insoo and Ub Yifu

First place went to Physeter Nichols for “HunnehTrap”

Artists Participating in the challenge included; Aisha Convair, Al Lurton, Alanah Wildcat, Artfox Daviau, Banrion Constantine, Calimera Lane, Chanty Bolissima, Chapl Paisley, Corcosman Voom, Dekka Raymaker, Ecchin Melson, FreeWee Ling, Fuschia Nightfire, Goose Wycliffe, Indigoraven Bisiani, Lagu Indigo, Lumi Michinaga, Marly Milena, Maryva Mayo, MIssCrakenthorpe Flux, Nova Dyszel, Oona Pinion, Penumbra Carter, Physeter Nicholls, Redsonja Congrejo, Scarp Godenot, shellina Winkler, Silene Christen, Siss Criss, Sledge Roffo, Solkide Auer, soror Nishi, stardove Spirt, Sundog Branner, windyy Lane, Xenophile Neurocam, Zhara Zanzibar and Zhora Maynard.

I had arrived shortly after the award ceremony but did have a chance to speak briefly to Ms Nightfire about the event and plans for the next challenge.

Nazz: The event went well I hope.

Sabrinaa: It was great … the show is fantastic. Forty artists were given nine textures and twenty prims and this is what they created. My visitor counter said we had three hundred and seventy five people stop over.

Nazz: Were the winners chosen?

Sabrinaa: Yes. First place is Physeter Nichols (HunnehTrap), second is Zhora Maynard (!to BE…a BEe!) and third is Dekka Raymaker (Martian Love Birds in a Padded Cage).

Nazz: How long will the exhibit remain open?

Sabrinaa: One month … next month, we are having a huge Halloween costume contest and party. Artists will create costumes and there will be prizes. A lot of people are already working on costumes
