Explosive art gallery growth in Second Life

To anyone who says that Second Life has gone corporate, dream on.  I present you this, courtesy of Art Gallery Group owner/manager/guru (and Oyster Bay artisan) Sasun Steinbeck.  Through her innovative networked kiosk and HUD, she’s been able to track the stunning growth of galleries in Second Life over just the past year.

  1. Just in case you’re interested, that dip around 11/1 was due to a massive cleaning of the whole list removing all missing galleries. From that point forward I’ve had a better system in place to find missing/abandoned galleries so the numbers are just a tad more accurate. One thing that’s really helped as been an “Error” button that I put on my gallery tour HUD so that users can report missing galleries. I get an automated email and verify that the gallery has moved. This way my users can help me keep the list clean, it’s been working great.

Also, the large gap in data between 4/1 and 6/14 was because of the recent bug with embedded notecards – I can’t open up my archived lists during that period :(
